Anja Rubik arrives in NYC

It was about %^$#@*& time - "...Inez and Vinoodh have been lensing Next's hot newcomer..."
Newcomer my ass -and people tell me I am nasty when I call some "pros" ignorant...
Whatever - I was getting tired calling the Next people names, telling them to push Anja - looks like it finally happened. Even the shitty polaroids they use in NYC to make mods look "fresh" can't hide her beauty and elegance - so, kudos to Next, finally a mod of some quality will show up in "hip" campaigns. She is 21 yo, from Poland, and she's done Kenzo, Givenchy, Escada Sport, Tod's, LaPerla, Guy Laroche, Clarins and much more - not bad for a "newcomer" !!! In the "French" campaign, with way too much hair (Anja usually has zero-volume hair) she looks like a product-improved Vialytsina.
I have to say that I love Anja's look with baby-doll length outfits, as in old Castelbajac shows - her legs look so perfect...
A year ago, I was saying "...I always liked Anja Rubik, a better mod than Elise Crombez in my opinion...". I guess Elise was with Next at the time, Anja is far better in every respect.
Wim has a very nice gallery with Anja pics, here (btw, I've met Olga Elnikova once, when she was very young and winning contests in Moscow - she looks amazing in the Dior ads). Someone has a site dedicated to Anja, here.

Anja Rubik was THE Anja in those Laroche ads with Kasia Pysiak and uh whoever else?? But that was like 4 years ago! I think someone called Gianne Albertoni a newcomer too haha.

Anja has been around for at least 5 or 6 years - she was very visible in Paris FW shows and appeared in many worldwide campaigns.
If she was little known in NYC, I guess Next NYC must take the blame for that.

Natalia Semanova is still unknown in NYC - thanks to Elite Models.

Gianne was Milan-based, and she hasn't done much international campaign work, even if she was the most famous model in Brazil for a long time, and modelled in the 95-96 Versace Milan shows at the age of 13.

Leticia Birkheuer was one of the top 5 Brazilian models internationally in 98-99, but she "forgot" all about it after her recent high fashion success - models don't necessarily like to remember their past work, especially if nobody else cares.

What do you mean she "forgot"? I mean what's she gonna do, carry her old portfolio with her all the time? Say no to Armani and Mert & Marcus and Meisel? There are phases in a model's career.. The majority of them want high fashion success, I don't think for example Anja Rubik is going to prefer to do the Castelbajac show instead of Balenciaga, same with Leticia, or any other model who's been around for a long time. Natalia S was very successful for a while but her time is up, and people do know who she is in NYC but.. she didn't look so good last time I saw her, and did she finally leave Elite?? No agency is gonna make her popular again, she should just keep working in Milan where a few clients still want her. Then again, May Andersen appeared at the Balenciaga show last October so ANYTHING is possible.

Has she said she just started modeling 2 years ago? Maybe nobody has asked her how long she's been modeling..

Anja is stunning. She pulls off the "waif" look brilliantly. Which agencies is she with (all of them) ?
